Moogie on the Net can be used by Teachers for free!

All teachers are welcome to sign up for a Basic FREE Membership - pretty cool, eh?

Really? For FREE?

Yes, as much as we can. We can see the day when our Google Ads will hopefully provide all the funding we need to keep Moogie up and running, but unfortunately we are just getting started with this great idea. Until we get to that point, we are offering Gold and Silver Memberships to teachers who wish to use all of Moogie's powerful features such as Moogie Educational Plans (MEPs), designing customized Assessments, and creating Printable Handouts. Teachers can really help us out by doing two things: 1) Allow your students 60 seconds at the end of each class/computer-lab time to click around and explore our Google Ads, and 2) Please spread the word about Moogie to all your teacher friends and colleagues - especially those at schools other than your own - as a grassroots effort to let everyone know that Moogie is here for them.

What can Moogie do for me and my students?

Lots! And we're pretty proud, too! Not all teachers use all parts of Moogie on the Net; we've tried to keep things open and flexible so teachers can use Moogie in the ways that work best for them. Students usually either do Workouts in the General Arena or concentrate on Assessments and any uniquely customized Follow-up AWWS Workouts. In the General Arena, Moogie will recommend where students should work based on their scores so far, but they are always free to work in whichever strand they choose, or you instruct them, to work. Here, Moogie remembers how students do on each and every question, not just for a broad area; so that means they see only the questions they are having trouble with. Another special feature of Moogie also allows teachers to easily create Moogie Educational Plans (MEPs) and select precisely which Learning Objectives they want their students to work on. And don't forget - the reason why Moogie exists - regardless of how your students use Moogie, every time a question appears, the numbers are always different, so there are no canned or stale questions. Students truly learn how to solve the problems! And of course, you would expect to easily see how your students are doing by Grade, Class, Strand, and each Learning Objective; that's standard for Moogie. Another standard is the complete logging of all student activity and progress so teachers can see who has done what, and when they did it.

So... What's so special about Moogie?

We're glad you asked! Moogie also lets you see your students' Hot Spots so you know which Learning Objectives are most troubling for your students over-all. You are also alerted when any Red Flags are raised for any of your students. A Red Flag is raised when a student misses a question 3 or more times in a row. You can then Stomp the Red Flags with the student; this is a wonderful feature that allows you to work, and re-work, the flagged question(s) until the student truly understands how to solve them. In addition, teachers can choose to do Teacher-Led Workouts (if you have a way to view a computer screen in class) where Moogie simply displays the questions and, after working it with a class, the correct answer is shown for all to see. Moogie also offers Fellow Teacher Support so you can share messages, MEPs, Assessments, and even students with other teachers at your school who are also using Moogie. The Teacher Communicator, which is similar to Instant Messaging, lets teachers send messages to their students and to other teachers at their school who also use Moogie on the Net. Our Question Inspector allows teachers to take a look at the questions their students are seeing; we welcome suggestions or recommendations about how to make Moogie even better. We offer Common Assessments in each of the the Learning Strands for each Grade Level, and teachers can see at a glance how their students do on them along with any AWWS Workouts

. Teachers can also have Moogie automatically create Assessments based on their students' needs; you can choose to base them on students' Hot Spots, their Red Flags, or where you, as their teacher, feel they need it! The truly amazing part where Moogie soars (and we've mentioned it a few times already on this page) is this: every time a student takes an Assessment, Moogie creates a personalized AWWS Workout, if needed, to help the student Actively Work the Weak Spots he/she had while taking the Assessment. After completing the AWWS Workout, the student is then encouraged to re-take the Assessment. To be even more useful., teachers can now create Printable Handouts of Assessments for their students, whether it's needed because of possible limited computer resources you may have, or just to help simulate a true testing environment for students. Each Handout, which is a PDF file, also includes an answer key, scoring chart, and optional bubble sheets. Students can then go online and quickly enter which questions they missed, and Moogie will instantly create personalized AWWS Workouts for those who need them just like he does after every Assessment.

Getting Students

Teachers typically create their own students' Moogie accounts. Students can also sign up on their own and use Moogie without a teacher, and you can simply become their teacher (in Moogie's eyes, kind of like adopting them) if you want.

Everywhere throughout Moogie on the Net, we use the "Queen's We." It makes us sound big and important. But in reality, there is only one of us, just me, Joe.
